N-HYPPADEC managing director, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa who led officials on inspection of the site yesterday, disclosed that there was a review by 100 percent of contracts for the building of the Muregi resettlement centre for flood victims in Mokwa local government of the state due to the current economic situation.

While ascertaining the level of work and compliance so far, he described it as satisfactory even as the work is a bit slow.

Sadiq Yelwa explained that the review became necessary due to escalating prices of building materials for the expected 200 units of two bedroom flats.

He said the 120 units was ongoing and 82 of the 200 units were at 60% to 80% completion stage, necessitating the review of the contract of each building upward to N12 million from the initial N6 million.

He stressed that none of the contractors is being owed by the commission, adding that they were happy with the review which is why they remain on site, noting that the target was to ensure its completion for occupation by the beneficiaries paying attention to NIMET and other agencies warning of flooding this year would be achieved.
