Group Seeks Unity To Overcome Nigeria Challenges

The National Unity Pathfinders (NUP), has called for unity among Nigerians in order to overcome the challenges facing the country currently.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja over the weekend, the coordinator of National Unity Pathfinders, Sixtus Nwoke said, “Today, we gather as Pathfinders, committed to charting a new course for our beloved country. We are united in our quest for a Nigeria that is aligned with the aspirations of the Nigeria we want. We envision a Nigeria that is driven by the principles of unity, self-determination, and a commitment to the well-being of all citizens.”

He further said the National Unity Pathfinders is not just a coalition; it is a transformative force that seeks to ignite the flames of unity in all parts of Nigeria. Comprising of all relevant stakeholders, civil society organisations and the entire citizens of Nigeria. NUP has set its sights on a striking vision: to unite the nation and pave the way for a brighter future.

“In Nigeria today, amidst the rich tapestry of cultural diversity that defines our nation, there is an undeniable call for unity. This call echoes across the country, as we recognize the pressing need to bridge the gap between generations and foster a harmonious coexistence, The responsible and dynamic younger generation stands at the forefront of this movement, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” he said.

While talking on Nigeria challenges, the coordinator said Nigeria pressing challenges include: “high mortality rates, particularly among our children and mothers; Food insecurity, which threatens the very fabric of our society, among others.”

To surmount these challenges, NUP coordinator said there is a ” need to make agricultural materials and produce affordable, to ensure food sufficiency and sustainability; The imperative of involving our young people and women in politics, to ensure that their voices are heard and their perspectives are valued; The importance of partnering with relevant agencies, to leverage resources and expertise and The need for regular engagement with the media, to ensure that our message resonates with the wider society.”

He also called for the promotion of economic development that is inclusive and sustainable, with a focus on industrialization, innovation, and entrepreneurship; Strengthening of political institutions, ensuring accountability, transparency, and good governance and fostering a culture of unity and inclusivity, celebrating our diversity and promoting social cohesion.
