South-East Govs Seek Nnamdi Kanu’s Release, To Interface With Tinubu

The South-East Governors Forum (SEGF) has resolved to interface with President Bola Tinubu to secure the release of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Chairman of the the Forum and governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, disclosed this at the end of their meeting held at the Government House, Enugu.

Uzodimma also disclosed that they resolved to visit the President to discuss pressing issues concerning the South-East geo-political zone of the country.

He also hinted that the Forum received a delegation comprising of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former secretary-general of Commonwealth of Nations, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, and Obi of Onitsha, HRH Igwe Alfred Achebe.

“The Forum deliberated on the review of the report of South-East Security Summit held in September 2023 and agreed to implement the aspect pertaining to the security and economic degradation of the region.

“They affirmed their desire to put actionable plans on the key issues agreed,” he stated.

The Forum also announced the burial committee of former Minister of Science and Technology, Late Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, to be headed by former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, while former minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, will serve as secretary.

The meeting was attended by all the five State governors of the South-East zone.
