A Jos-based Non Governmental Organisation, Kingdom Kids Klub, has inaugurated a transition council to support the process of finding permanent homes for orphans.

The council members  comprise of  experts from all walks of life including representatives of the  state government and  was inaugurated by Justice Mary Abba Izam.

Speaking on the occasion, the Global director of Kingdom Kids Klub, Mrs Sandra Chikan, urged  Nigerians  to consider adopting or fostering children from orphanages to give them a stable life as leaving children to stay perpetually in orphanages jeopardises rather than safeguarding their future.

She said, “We are pushing for orphans to be integrated into the society. We are encouraging communities to take care of their orphans and explore the option of our traditional model of care, which is kinship care.

“Based on our experiences and years of research, we found out that orphanages are not the best place for children; though they stand as temporary solutions to the interventions for children to have care. Whether they have come out of abusive situations or tragedy struck and the parents died, we need to find a place for them to stay permanently eventually.”
