Gov Buni’s Investment In Agriculture Aimed At Enhancing Livelihood, Job Opportunities – Commissioner

The Yobe State Commissioner Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Mustapha Goniri said Governor Mai Mala Buni’s investment in the development of agricultural activities were meant to create job opportunities and enhance means of livelihood across the state.

A statement from the Information Officer of the ministry, Aishatu Tijjani said the commissioner stated this while speaking to journalists at his office in Damaturu.

The commissioner said the administration of Governor Buni has injected the sum of over N14 billion for the procurement of agricultural inputs, which will be distributed to actual farmers across the 178 political wards in the state.

“This is the first time in the history of Yobe State that the agricultural sector is receiving huge investment at once.

“The beneficiaries of the governor’s agricultural support includes women that engage in farming and rearing of small ruminants to empower them for self-reliance,” Goniri stated.

He expressed confidence that the governor’s intervention will equally boost livestock production for the state to continue holding its stand in the sector.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Dr Musa Abba Kollere said due to the Yobe state’s commitments in agriculture, private Turkish investors have expressed interest in establishing meat processing and dairy production companies in the state for more Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
