Director of Federal Capital Territory’s Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), Dr Bello Abdulateef, has urged the newly promoted officers to meet up with the accredited international standard in traffic management to ease transportation in Abuja.

Speaking at the decoration ceremony of newly promoted senior officers of the organisation, Dr Abdulateef charged the promoted officers to double their efforts and join the ongoing evolution in road traffic management in the FCT adding that all the officers deserved their promotions.

He said the DRTS is an evolving agency with the mantra of making traffic management easy in the nation’s capital, adding that with more senior officers being promoted to the management team, the better for the organisation.

“The more men we have in the management team, the more credible decisions we have and the evolution of the management. We need the cooperation, synergy and resourcefulness of all staff to move DRTS forward. We all know that change is difficult but inevitable and it’s not been an easy challenge for the leadership of this agency.

“At times, if you are the other side of change, you feel it was directed at hurting you, but honestly, most of the changes are not designed to hurt anybody but to move DRTS to a new pedestal of an agency like ours. And this is because helplessness will move us if we don’t move. So it is always better to confront our challenges. If we dodge, it will overwhelm us,” Dr Abdulateef stated.

He also charged the decorated officers to be ready to offer their best to DRTS and join the evolution. He added that they must identify with the vision of making traffic management in the federal capital, the envy of their counterparts in other parts of the country.

Earlier, the director of finance, Mrs Eze Ego, had urged the promoted officers to justify their promotions by dedicating themselves to hard work, remaining focused, and being disciplined.
She congratulated the officers and pleaded with them to be good ambassadors of DRTS by applying courtesy and good manners to discharge their duties.
