Chairman, Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and governor of Imo State Hope Uzodimma has said with President Bola Tinubu and 20 governors within its folds, the All Progressives Congress (APC) was in a vantage position to win the forthcoming Edo and Ondo States gubernatorial polls.

Uzodimma stated this while addressing journalists after he led four APC governors to a meeting with the party’s national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje and members of the National Working Committee at the APC secretariat in Abuja on Monday.

The Imo governor was in the company of the Cross River Governor, Bassey Otu; the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; and their Ekiti State counterpart, Governor Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

Uzodimma disclosed that the APC national campaign council for the Edo governorship election will be inaugurated in the state on July 20, 2024, and the party’s 20 governors will be on the ground to ensure the party’s victory.

He said APC has done very well in Nigeria as what is currently happening is a global economic problem. People will soon be jubilant about how the President navigated the turbulent waters.

“A party like APC that is in control of 20 states out of 36 and also produced a president and members of the Federal Executive Council is the majority party, and if the election is the game of numbers, it means the majority will win.

“So, when we get to Edo because we are the majority party, for instance, on the 20th of this month, the National Campaign Council will be inaugurated in Edo State, and it is expected that most of us, the members of the Progressives Governors Forum will be in attendance. Which other party can provide or boast of such an asset, politically speaking?

“So, we don’t need to overload the horse; the truth is that the APC has done very well in Nigeria. What is happening currently is a global economic problem. We in Nigeria, under our own leadership, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is also bringing out policies to ensure, given the kind of economy he met and the kind of situation he saw when he came, he has started the treatment, and by the grace of God, I am very confident that very soon Nigerians will be jubilant about how he has managed to navigate the waters,” Uzodinma stated.

Also, Ganduje assured that the party under his leadership would do all it took to maintain good relationships with its governors across the country and help protect their interests.

“We will do all it takes to maintain good relationships with our governors nationwide and help protect their interests. there is no doubt that they are also assisting the party; they are making the party proud as an institution,” he said.
