Jagaban: Makinde Orders Flags To Be Hoisted At Half Mast As Minister, Others Mourn

Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has ordered that flags to be hoisted at half-mast throughout the state in honour of the late Hon. Musiliu Olaide Akinremi who is popularly known as Jagaban.

Governor Makinde described the sudden demise of the member representing Ibadan North federal constituency in the House of Representatives as shocking and a great loss to the state.

The governor prayed for the repose of the soul of the departed and courage for the family to bear the unfortunate loss.

Also federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North West/ Ibadan South West federal constituency of Oyo state, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide (Odidiomo), has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of his colleague, Hon. AkinremI.

Olajide’s Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, described the late Jagaban as a dedicated and hardworking lawmaker who contributed significantly to the development of the country.

“He was a brother and colleague who showed great commitment to our nation’s progress.

“His demise is a great loss to the National Assembly and the people of Oyo State,” Odidiomo said.

He extended his condolences to the friends family, and political associates of the deceased and prayed for the repose of his soul.

Meanwhile, Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has described the death of the lawmaker as a great and personal loss.

Adelabu, in a condolence message he personally signed described Akinremi as a brother and friend whose death came as a major surprise and shock that he is still trying to come to terms with.

“This really came as a shock to me. I am still trying to wrap my head round the fact of his death. He was a partner in progress who also believed in the development of Oyo State. This is indeed a major loss to the progressives’ family in Oyo State and Nigeria,” Adelabu said.

He said the late Rep would be missed by his colleagues in the National Assembly, Oyo APC, people of Ibadan North who he ably represented, his immediate and extended families.

“No doubt, the death of Jagaban will definitely create a big vacuum in the polity but I pray that the Almighty God gives the family and all those affected by his untimely passage the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“I also pray to the Almighty Allah to grant his soul Aljanah firdaus,” Adelabu prayed.

Oyo State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Mr. Olawale Sadare told LEADERSHIP through the phone on Wednesday that Akinremi died in the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja.

Sadare however said details surrounding the demise of the APC federal lawmaker remained sketchy.
