A total of 200 suspected criminals have been arrested by anti-crime operatives of the Anambra State police command.

The commissioner of police, Nnaghe Itam, who disclosed this at a news conference yesterday said the command had also got six of the suspects convicted by the courts.

Itam who said the feats were achieved within the past two months he was deployed to the state stated that during the period the state police command’s operatives recovered about 1,644 ammunitions.

He said some of the hoodlums included kidnappers, cultists, car snatchers, among others.

He disclosed that he was putting in place operational strategies to make sure that within 10 minutes a crime is reported at any police station in any part of the state, a response team would storm the scene.

He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for supporting the state police command, and  sister security agencies, including the DSS, NSCDC and vigilante groups in helping the police fight crime.
