Gov. Buni Offers Automatic Appointment To Female Volunteer Teacher

As a mark of appreciation to a sacrifice and teaching at public schools for free, the Yobe state Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has approved an award of automatic employment to a female volunteer teacher at Kara Government Day Junior Secondary School, Potiskum, Fatima Jibrin Abdullahi.

A statement issued by the director general Press Affairs and Media to the Governor Alhaji Mamman Mohammed said Buni announced the offer when the organizers of the Spelling Bee Competition led by the executive secretary Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) called on him at the government house Damaturu.

The governor said Fatima, a holder of the National Certificate of Education (NCE) holder who also volunteered as a tutor at the Spelling Bee Competition organized for students across the state deserve the appointment taking into cognisance her commitments and sacrifices.

Gov. Buni commended the organizers of the Spelling Bee Competition for promoting excellence among students from both private and public schools across the state.

“Government will support this programme to encourage our students to participate actively and to make the competition an annual event” he said.

Khadija Modu Manga, of Zaid Bin Thabit Secondary School Damaturu, emerged first with a prize of N1m.

Yusuf Haruna Mohammed, of Government Day Junior Secondary School Kara Potiskum, emerged second with a prize of N305,000, and Humaira Haruna Mohammed of Junior Secondary School Gashua, emerged third with a prize of N200,000.

Earlier, leader of the organizing committee and Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, said the competition was sponsored by individuals to improve the intellect of the students in the state.

He commended members of the public for contributing towards the success of the competition.
