The National Hydro Power Producing Development Commission N-HYPPADEC has organised a stakeholders progress meeting in Jos to strategise on the distribution of starter packs to graduands of its various skills acquisition training programmmes in the state.

Over 343 youths were trained by the commission to acquire skills that would enable them become self-employed and contribute to national development under the Youth Transformation Program (YTP).
Managing director/chief executive officer of the commission, Abubakar Yelwa, represented by Mr. Pam Davou, said the youths had been trained for six months on solar panel, CCTV installation, crops and livestock production, fashion designing, fish farming, event management, furniture making and many others.

He advised the beneficiaries not to sell their starter packs to anybody, but to make good use of them to improve their businesses in order to become employers of labour.

According to him, the aim of the training is to empower the youth who are leaders of tomorrow, stressing that the commission was partnering with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to assist in the registration of the businesses of those trained.

The Gbong Gwom Jos Da Jacob Buba, who was represented by the Dagwom Rwei of Barki Ladi HRH Edward Bot and the representative of Plateau State Youth Council, Kumwen Musa called on the commission to ensure that they set up committee to monitor the progress of the trainees.
