Buni Tasks APC Reconciliation Committees On Unity, Victory

Yobe State governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has inaugurated reconciliation committees for the three senatorial districts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to resolve internal disputes and unite aggrieved members ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The committees, inaugurated yesterday at the Wawa Hall, Government House, Damaturu, were constituted to reconcile members affected by recent party congresses and primary elections and strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure.

Buni, who inaugurated the committees, charged the members to place the party’s interests above personal interests and work towards achieving sustainable unity within the APC.

Represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, he said the members were selected based on their track records, commitment and dedication to the party, and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them.

“The task before this committee is very important and crucial, to reconcile, harmonise, integrate and unite the members of the party,” the governor said.

According to him, the committees are also expected to identify inactive and aggrieved members and bring them back into the party’s fold.

He said their assignment was aimed at promoting mutual understanding, peace and development within the APC, stressing the need for dialogue as the 2027 general elections draw closer.

The governor further directed the committees to carry out their duties fairly and maintain confidentiality in their deliberations.

He said the committees must work towards building cohesion within the party in order to secure victory for the APC at all levels in the 2027 general elections.

Buni also tasked them with preparing a final political harmonisation report containing recommendations on sustaining unity, expanding the party’s support base and strengthening its grassroots structure.

He directed the committees to submit their reports to the APC State Working Committee within two weeks of their inauguration.

The Yobe East Senatorial District committee is chaired by Alhaji Muhammad Lamin, with Hon. Mala Musti as deputy chairman and Alhaji Modu Ma’aji Ajiri as secretary.

The Yobe South Senatorial District committee is chaired by the former Minister of State for Works, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, while Aliyu Saleh Bagare is deputy chairman, and Barrister Aliyu Shehu Fika is secretary.

For the Yobe North Senatorial District, Alhaji Suleiman Garba Suleiman is the chairman, Hon. Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa is the deputy chairman, and Barrister Yusuf Bala Haladu Esa is the secretary.

The governor expressed optimism that the committees would successfully resolve grievances within the party and help strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

He subsequently declared the three zonal reconciliation committees formally inaugurated.
