The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 election, Adewole Adebayo, has faultled the anticipated nation wide protest over the economic hardship in the country.

While he urged Nigerians to vote wisely in the next general elections, he also encouraged opposing the adoption of neoliberal policies and experiments by the Nigerian government.

Adebayo while reacting to the planned protest over the state of affairs in the country said the four year tenure of electing leaders must be sacred if the country must avoid chaos.

He called on political actors to organise voters to vote in their socioeconomic best interests, just as he alluded that current planners of this protest have no ideological basis for their anticipated action.

He wrote on his X platform, “Why don’t I endorse mass protests? Elections have consequences and the winner must use his mandate; 4 year tenure is sacred if we must avoid chaos; protests have no ideological basis for the protest sponsors follow the same neolibéral policies; Vote wisely next time.

“What do I endorse? Voicing out alternative policies with better outcomes than IMF inspired neolibéral experiments; organising the voters to vote in their socioeconomic best interests; avoid chaos by foreign and domestic enemies of Nigeria; debunk APC government lies.”
