Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, has unveiled a generator that presents a novel alternative to traditional power sources such as biofuel, solar, or hydro.

The polytechnic’s rector, Prof Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, said Sunday night at the 4th edition of the Journalists Hangout, themed ‘Parley to Party’ and hosted by the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), that the revolutionary 2.5 kVA generator incorporates Internet of Things (IoT) control for user convenience.

The Rector disclosed that the cutting-edge generator, which has been rigorously tested and operates quietly for up to 21 hours, is generously funded and managed by a team led by the Dean of Engineering at Oghara Polytechnic.

Ufuophu-Biri, who attributed the project’s inception to his experience in a 2009 U.S. Government program where he explored alternative energy sources, has shown encouraging results.

“Details of the technology are being kept confidential until it is officially patented. The generator has attracted interest from prospective buyers both domestically and internationally.

“In a recent two-hour test, the generator ran nearly silently, with ongoing efforts to further minimise noise.

“The Polytechnic plans to showcase the invention to the state Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as a state innovation and seek support and funding from key government ministries, including Science and Technology, Trade and Investment and Justice” Ufuophu-Biri stated.

He expressed deep gratitude for the state government’s unwavering support, which has been crucial in advancing this groundbreaking initiative.

Dr. Emmanuel Akpoveta, Dean of ICT, Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku, said the unveiling signifies a significant step forward in alternative energy solutions, marking the beginning of a new era in sustainable power generation.
