Sam Sodje has voiced his displeasure over the delay in the appointment of a new head coach for the Super Eagles.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is still foot-dragging on the appointment of a new head coach for the three-time African champions.

Former Ajax winger, Finidi George left the post in June following NFF’s decision to employ a foreign technical adviser for the team.

The Super Eagles will begin their quest for a place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations next month.

Sodje, a former Super Eagles defender, stated that it is sad that the NFF is yet to appoint a substantive head coach for the team.

“It’s just sad that we’re still talking about a coach and there’s nothing we can say,” Sodje told Brila FM.

“Not only football, but sports in the country have really gone down. I think football has been something that we have to agree that we’ve lost touch with.

“Not having a coach at this time is terrible. But just because we have to play the game, having an interim manager might be the best idea, but it has to be done ASAP.”
