The product launch has the theme, ‘Accelerating Nigeria’s Net Zero Target and Carbon Market Ecosystem with Netzence Sustainability Limited.’

Dr. Sani highlighted the capabilities of CloseCarbon, emphasising its role in effortlessly tracking, monitoring, and calculating carbon footprints.

He asserted that this innovation is pivotal for Nigeria to meet its 2030 emission reduction target, as well as the 2050 and 2060 Net Zero targets, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

“Our cutting-edge solutions will empower Nigeria to meet its Nationally Determined Contribution goals, aligning with global net-zero targets,” said Sani.

The system provides real-time insights into emission reduction management and promotes sustainable practices across various sectors.

The development of CloseCarbon was driven by an industry-wide survey that exposed a critical shortage of verifiable data to support emission reduction claims.

Addressing this gap, Dr. Sani explained, “We have developed embedded systems and technologies that enable us to reduce emissions by monitoring and verifying what has been done.”

In a bid to encourage widespread adoption, Dr. Sani announced free onboarding for individuals and companies willing to use CloseCarbon.

“The CloseCarbon, which has been launched today, will be actively available for individuals to come on board, register on the platform, and we can onboard you for free,” he stated.

The launch event saw the attendance of notable figures including the minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Uche Nnaji, former governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello.

Others are general manager of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, Prof. Stephen Ogaji; project manager for the GEF-UNDP Africa Minigrids Project Nigeria, Dr. Bala Tyoden, and chairman of the Board of Directors, Jos Disco, Ibrahim Bello. Representatives from the office of the vice president and key partners were also present, underscoring the importance of this initiative in Nigeria’s journey towards sustainability.
