Activist and human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has expressed strong disapproval over the size of the new presidential jet acquired by President Bola Tinubu administration.
In a video posted on his X handle (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday evening, Adeyanju shared his reaction after spotting the new jet at the airport upon his return to Abuja from Lagos.
The video, captioned “Just got back to Abuja from Lagos and saw Tinubu’s outrageously huge presidential jet,” shows Adeyanju visibly shocked by the aircraft’s size. He exclaimed, “The country is going down the drain oo, look at our president’s new jet, it’s so big, it’s so big.”
Adeyanju continued his criticism by questioning the appropriateness of such an acquisition during a time of widespread hardship in the country. “Have you seen the jet? The jet is outrageous, it’s outrageously big. What kind of a country is this, in the midst of suffering?” he asked.
The outcry followed Adeyanju’s recent appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast, where he expressed dissatisfaction with President Tinubu administration. During the podcast, he claimed that the Tinubu era makes him nostalgic for the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, despite its flaws.
