NOC President Gumel Bags FIVB, CAVB Award

The president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engr. Habu Gumel, has been awarded with the African Order of Merit of the Confederation of African Volleyball for long service and contribution to the development of volleyball in Africa and beyond.He received the award during the CAVB Elective Congress in held Marakash, Morocco on Sunday August 18, 2024.

Presenting the award to Gumel, FIVB president Ary Graca and CAVB president Bouchra Hajij congratulated Nigeria’s national Olympic boss for a job well done over the years in ensuring the growth of the game in Nigeria, Africa and beyond.

Engr. Gumel thanked the FIVB as well as the CAVB for finding him worthy of such an award and promised not to rest on his oars in ensuring the growth of the game.

“The significance of this award is for me to do more than I’ve been doing over the years for volleyball. I’m glad for being recognised and and awarded but also promise to do more in ensuring the upliftment of the game especially on the continent.”

Engr. Gumel is a Member of the International Olympic Committee,  Executive vice president CAVB and Executive vice president FIVB.
