The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has condemned the incident, labelling it “appalling, callous, and unacceptable.”

He has ordered a significant increase in police resources to support the local command’s rescue efforts.

Kidnapping for ransom has unfortunately become a common occurrence in Benue and several other states across Nigeria, perpetrated by various armed groups.
