A non-governmental organisation under the auspices of the Global Initiative for Peace, Love, and Care (GIPLC) and Abdulkabir Aliu Foundation (AAF) has promised to offset the medical bills of 28 children and others with some chronic diseases with N50 million.

The less privileged children will undergo treatment at home and abroad, especially for complex surgeries.

Director general and national coordinator of GIPLC Nuhu Kwajafa made this known yesterday in Abuja after receiving a 2024 Humanitarian Honours Award from the Humanitarian Services Diamond Awards, which were organised for the 50 most impactful humanitarians and change makers in Nigeria in 2024. The theme was “Integration of Social Welfare and Justice for Nigerian Senior Citizens in Humanitarian Project Delivery.”

“Medical bills of over 28 children across Nigeria worth N50m will be paid courtesy of Abdulkabir Aliu Foundation (AAF), for which GIPLC just signed a Memorandum of Understanding/partnership.

“This award means a lot to me because it shows that our work is not in vain and that we are impacting the lives of the most vulnerable children and women in Nigeria and beyond. I am, therefore, more encouraged to stay focused on my lifetime commitment to charity,” he said.

Kwajafa, who said that the organisation has a couple of healthcare programs that would kick off on August 23, also revealed that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has nominated him for a street named after him in recognition of their charity work in Nigeria.

“I have been in charity work for close to two decades now, and by the grace of God, our work has not gone unnoticed. Just last year, the federal government of Nigeria conferred on me a National Honors Award, Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).

“It triggered quite a lot of attention across the board, so I was contacted by the conveners of the Humanitarian Gold Awards, who notified me that I had been nominated anonymously for the Humanitarian Personality of the Year 2024 Award.

“I acknowledged and accepted the nomination, hence my presence here today to humbly accept it. I sincerely dedicate it to all my NGO partners, well-wishers, supporters, my family, and all the children and women who have been part of our long charity journey. To God be all the glory,” he said.
