Bandits have kidnapped seven members of the same extended family during a night attack on Angwan Sarki Kaso community in Kakau Ward, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The attackers reportedly stormed the settlement around 11pm on Wednesday, surrounded at least four houses and abducted residents from different households belonging to the extended family.
Adams Sule, who confirmed the incident to LEADERSHIP, said the victims were taken away from their homes while they were sleeping.
He said women and children were among those abducted by the assailants.
The Secretary to the Village Head of Kaso, Jonah Baba, who also confirmed the attack, said the attackers arrived in the community and started shooting, throwing residents into panic.
Baba lamented the persistent cases of kidnapping in Kaso, saying residents had continued to live in fear as bandits repeatedly targeted the community.
He explained that some residents managed to escape during the operation but sustained injuries.
Baba further said one of the seven victims, a young man, was later released by the abductors, while the remaining six were still in captivity.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command is yet to react to the latest development as of the time of filing this report.
