Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Abduction, Sexual Abuse Of 2 Almajiris In Bauchi

Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 37-year-old Abubakar Talba for allegedly abducting 12-year-old Mas’ud Barau and Ibrahim Kabiru, 13, from Daura in Katsina State.

Similarly, the suspect was accused of sodomising one of his victims Barau, who hailed from Gamniya village in Niger Republic in a mosque in Udubo, a community in Gamawa local government area of Bauchi State.

The victim, Barau, met Talba at Rijiyar Zaki, Kano State after he migrated into Nigeria to learn memorisation of Holy Qur’an.

Spokesperson of Bauchi Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil disclosed this to reporters in a statement on Thursday.

Residents of Udubo, a community in Gamawa local government area of Bauchi State has filed a complaint against Talba over his constant maltreatment of the boys who were under him as disguised Qur’anic teacher, having earlier moved to the community from Daura.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he had attended a Quranic school in Fagge. He met one of his victims at Bata area in Fagge local government, Kano State.

“The suspect lured his first victim, Barau, from Kano to Daura under the pretense that he would support him to start a business, under the pretense of providing capital to start selling touch lights and batteries.

“The suspect would be charged to court after the investigation is completed,” Wakil said.
