The Kano State House of Assembly has called on the state government to provide a modern speed boat for residents of Kauranmata and Galinja communities in Madobi local government area to help in their transportation and prevent boat mishaps.

This was sequel to deliberations on the house floor presided over by the speaker, Hon. Ismail Falgore, on Monday.

Mover of the motion, a member representing Madobi constituency, Hon. Suleiman Ishaq, emphasised the need for a modern boat to enable residents in the area to transport themselves for business and farming activities in the neighbouring Kura LGA.

He said the river where the sad incident happened is a daily route for residents in that community, maintaining that equipped and modernised boats can help prevent future occurrences.

While noting that the community has buried five persons involved in the mishap and five others still missing, he further sought the support of the house to call on the state government to provide urgent assistance to other victims and families involved in the mishap.

Supporting the motion, Murtala Kore, a member representing the Danbatta constituency, stressed the urgent need for the government to assist victims of various disasters in the state, noting that some of them have lost their means of livelihood and need help.
