The Gombe State Government, through the Commissioner of the Ministry of Water, Environment, and Forest Resources, Mohammed Saidu Fawu, received a high-level delegation from the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) in audience. Dr. Mahmood, who led the HYPPADEC team, commiserated with the Gombe State Government and the people of Dadinkowa community over the recent devastating flood that ravaged properties and farmlands in the area.
Dr. Mahmood announced that the delegation would assess the situation and extent of damage to report back to the HYPPADEC management for immediate intervention. He highlighted HYPPADEC’s roles and success stories of interventions carried out so far. Dr. Mahmood also congratulated Gombe State for being admitted as a member of HYPPADEC, alongside three other states, making a total of 10 member states. He assured the gathering that the commission would soon write officially to the state government seeking office accommodation to mobilize staff to Gombe State for full operation, enabling the Dadinkowa community hosting the hydroelectric power facility to benefit from diverse interventions facilitated by the commission.
The Permanent Secretary, Danladi Adamu representing the Honourable Commissioner, expressed gratitude to HYPPADEC for commiserating with the Gombe State Government and the Dadinkowa community over the recent flood. He expressed delight at Gombe State’s membership in HYPPADEC and anticipated the dividends of its membership. He solicited more interventions for host communities and social amenities, assuring the commission of the state government’s support whenever needed.
