The National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) has responded to concerns from Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) who arrived late at their Orientation Camps for the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course and were not registered in time.

Caroline Embu, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, explained that the Scheme’s policies on mobilisation and orientation are clearly outlined in the enabling Act and Call-Up Letters issued to PCMs.

According to her, registration was set to close at midnight on Thursday, August 29, 2024, with the Swearing-in Ceremony scheduled nationwide for Friday, August 30, 2024.

She said following reports of late arrivals, the Director General extended the registration deadline to midnight on Friday, August 30, 2024, saying that despite this extension, additional complaints continued to surface on social media.

“To address the situation, the Director General visited several camps to assess the issues firsthand. While expressing sympathy for the affected PCMs, he underscored the importance of following NYSC rules and deadlines. He instructed that the affected PCMs be provided with accommodation and feeding before departing from the camps.

“The Director General also assured that those who made efforts but missed the registration deadline would be considered for the 2024 Batch ‘C’ mobilization.
