2024 Paralympic: Ugwunwa Wins Silver In Women’s Javelin

Flora Ugwunwa has won a silver medal for Team Nigeria in women’s Javelin F54, at the ongoing Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

In Saturday’s event, Ugwunwa placed second with a throw of 19.26m.

Nurkhon Kurbanova from Uzbek won gold after setting a world record with a throw of 21.12m, while the bronze medal was won by Elham Salehi of Iran who threw 16.24m.

Ugwunwa became the first Nigeria to win a medal in Para-Athletics, at the ongoing games.

Her feat has now taken the country’s overall tally to four medals won at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Paris.

This makes it her third consecutive medal at the Paralympics with two gold medals at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 as well as silver in Paris.
