The state high court granted bail to the 19 protesters arrested during the “End Bad Governance” protest in Katsina.

The protesters, detained for exercising their constitutional right to peaceful assembly, were recently released on bail.

Meanwhile, the state chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Bar. Ibrahim Umar has commendably vowed to follow the case to its logical conclusion, stating that they want to ensure that justice is served and the rights of the protesters are protected.

Bar. Umar expressed concern over the Police’s mistreatment of the protesters, including minors. “It is unfortunate that the police resorted to brutality and intimidation. We will not stand for such human rights violations,” he added.

The protesters were arrested during a peaceful demonstration against lousy governance in Katsina. The police used excessive force to disperse the crowd, leading to the arrest of 19 individuals.

The NBA’s involvement in the case highlights the organisation’s commitment to promoting justice and accountability. Gaining bail to the protesters is a positive step towards upholding human rights and fundamental freedoms.
