Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Olajide (Odidiomo), has expressed deep concern over the state of the economy, saying it is high time Nigerian leaders came together to find a way out of the current economic crisis.

Olajide, who cited rising inflation, unemployment, and poverty rates as the bane of the nation’s current economic crisis while speaking on the state of the country through his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, emphasised the need for a national dialogue to address these pressing issues and find sustainable solutions.

According to a lawmaker representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency in the House of Representatives, “We cannot continue to ignore the cries of our citizens, who are struggling to make ends meet.

“It is our responsibility as leaders to come together and find a way forward,” Olajide said.

Proposing a way out of the present dark situation, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker proposed a national dialogue that would bring together stakeholders from various sectors, including government, private sector, civil society, and labour unions.

He said the dialogue would aim to identify the root causes of the economic crisis and develop a comprehensive plan to address them.

Olajide also highlighted the need for transparency and accountability in governance and the importance of investing in education, healthcare, and infrastructure to drive economic growth.
