Ogun State House of Assembly (OGHA) has summoned the federal lawmaker currently representing Ifo/Ewekoro in the House of Representatives (HoR), Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka, over his involvement in the illegal lease of government lands in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state, for 99 years.

This was just as the immediate former chairman of the Council, Hon Sikiru Adesina, late Tuesday, admitted before the House of Assembly’s Committee probing allegations of fraud and illegalities perpetrated under his administration that he leased government land to Isiaka for 99 years without proper reference to the Ogun State Local Government Laws.

Adesina, who appeared before the House Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-corruption to defend himself over allegations of fraudulent sales and lease of government lands and property levelled against him by the concerned Citizens of Ewekoro LGA, disclosed that the federal lawmaker secured four leases of government lands under different applications for himself and his companies.

Speaking before the House Committee, chaired by Hon. Bello Oluwadamilare, the embattled former Council boss said all the government lands leased to the National Assembly (NASS) member, Isiaka, were done with the approval of the Finance and General Purpose Committee (FIGPC) of Ewekoro LGA, irrespective of whether such lease complied with the existing Ogun State Local Government laws.

Adesina confidently explained to the committee that the property in question was leased to Hon. Isiaka was done under three different applications, but they originated from the same federal lawmaker.

Meanwhile, Adesina’s defence before the OGHA committee was in sharp disagreement with that of the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mrs Kemi Ogunyewo, who informed the committee that the Council has records for four lands leased to the federal lawmaker against only one lease claimed by Adesina to construct a skill acquisition centre for youths in Ewekoro LGA.

The documents submitted by Ogunyewo before the committee also indicated that a particular two plots of land leased on which a privately owned shopping complex is sitting have yet to record paying rent for the past seven years.

Consequent upon the revelations, the Assembly’s House Committee has, however, summoned the House of Reps member, Hon. Isiaka, to appear before it regarding the government’s properties allegedly leased to him in the council following due process before adjourning its sitting until next Tuesday, September 17th, 2024.
