North-East State Directors of Department of State Services (DSS) have demanded a robust collaboration to defeat remnants of insurgents and other security challenges facing the region.

Chairman of the North-East Conference of State Directors of DSS, Sani Bakori said this in Bauchi during quarterly conference of DSS directors in the region.

He said that over the years, the Northeast has had its share of security challenges such as terrorism, Boko Haram, banditry, kidnapping, and communal conflicts, among others, which have resulted in devastating loss of lives and displacements of millions of citizens.

Bakori said these myriads of security challenges have significantly caused setbacks to the development of the region and the country at large.
He said they are poised to discuss and find lasting solutions to these problems so that the citizens can live securely wherever they are.
Bakori stressed that during the three-day conference, they would focus on several key areas crucial in fostering stability and peace in the North-East through strengthening community resilience and community policing, strategic collaboration, and partnerships with relevant stakeholders in addressing the root causes of these challenges.

Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed who was represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau, commended the professionalism of DSS and other security agencies at ensuring peace and security in the North-East.
He pledged the continuous support of his administration to the activities of DSS for adequate intelligence gathering to ensure proactive prevention of crimes.
