Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised a notorious terrorist, arrested 22 cattle rustlers and recovered 150 cows and weapons in Kaduna and Plateau states.
A statement by the Nigerian Army on its official social media handle said the troops on Friday acting on actionable intelligence, engaged fleeing terrorists under the cover of darkness near Gayam Village in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State.
They killed one notorious terrorist while the others fled in panic, abandoning their weapons.
The troops following a thorough search of the area recovered AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine containing three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two motorcycles and a mobile phone.
In another operation, troops following credible intelligence regarding the movement of rustled cattle by terrorist collaborators, laid in ambush along the Karau Karau-Galadimawa road where they arrested 18 suspects linked to the rustling of 150 cattle, being transported in four trucks.
The statement said further investigations uncovered damning evidence, including 10 mobile phones—some containing videos of terrorists receiving training—and the sum of N215,550 in cash.
Relatedly, troops in Plateau State, also intercepted four suspects conveying three rustled cows in Barkin Ladi local government area.
