The spokesperson of the FCT command, SP Josephine Adeh, said in a statement yesterday that the report or rumour of a planned abduction at the university campus by some individuals circulating on online platforms was misleading, and should be disregarded.

“The FCT Police Command wishes to clarify that these reports are nothing but baseless publications propagated by rumor mongers aiming to create unfounded panic and apprehension among FCT residents and the university community.

“The command hereby reiterates its commitment to securing and safeguarding the lives and property of residents of the FCT as adequate deployment of personnel and equipment have been implemented to enhance the security situation within the FCT, which includes the University of Abuja.

“The command also urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the command’s emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, and 07057337653. For complaints, please contact PCB at 09022222352 or CRU at 08107314192,” the spokesperson said.
