Police Arrest Man For Suicide Attempt In Adamawa

Operatives of the Adamawa State Command have arrested a 30-year-old Abdullahi Muhammed, who climbed a 33kv high-tension pole along Yola-Jalingo Highway and threatened to kill himself.

Spokesman of the Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya, who confirmed the arrest said in a statement said the suspect who hails from Taraba State would be taken to Specialist Hospital for psychiatric test to ascertain his mental health.

He said that on receiving the news, operatives of the Mayo-Belwa Divisional Police Headquarters were deployed to the scene of the incident, resulting in the rescue of the man who was later taken into protective custody.

Yahaya said the suspect was being investigated and will be charged to court at the end of investigation.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the suicide suspect did not specify the reason for attempting to take his life.
