Leaders and beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) across the Niger Delta region have conveyed their stance on the October 1st planned protest against bad governance, saying that there will be no protests in the Niger Delta.

The national chairman of PAP Phase 2, Ibena Rufus Salvation, who stated this on Monday in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, also commended the PAP Administrator, Dr Dennis Otuaro, for his political will in resolving persistent issues affecting beneficiaries.

He expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing Otuaro at this point, adding that many of the issues persisted for many years before the current administrator took over the mantle of leadership.

Ibena emphasised that while the region has, over the years, expressed grievances through numerous protests, the current administration is well aware of the needs and concerns of the people.

“We trust that the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with Chief Dr Dennis Otuaro as the PAP Boss and an integral part of the administration, will address the issues affecting the Niger Delta. At this point, protests no longer serve a purpose in our region. Our focus should now be on consolidating the gains we have achieved and working together to ensure continued development and progress under this administration.

“Let us now turn our efforts toward supporting the administration in its drive to meet the needs of our people rather than resorting to protests, which have already served their purpose in bringing our plight to light. With such leadership, the Niger Delta can look forward to a future of peace, development, and prosperity”, he noted.”

Ibena also called on other political leaders in the Niger Delta, particularly those heading ministries, parastatals, and agencies, to emulate Otuaro’s exemplary leadership style and expressed the ex-agitators’ commitment to peace and stability in the Niger Delta.
