Umahi Harps On Full Implementation Of FCSSIP25

The Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi has emphasised the need for the entire deployment, implementation, and institutionalisation of the goals of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021- 2025 (FCSSIP 25).

He made this pledge on Wednesday at a one-day Management Retreat on FCSSIP25 in Abuja, which had the theme “Specific Roles of Heads of Department in implementing FCSSIP25. ”

In a statement by the Director of the Press Ministry of Works, M.A Ahmed, the Minister expressed the Ministry’s commitment to leading in its implementation and being a prominent player in the delivery of Federal Government policies, plans, programmes, and projects.

The Minister, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Yakubu Adams Kofarmata, reiterated the commitment of the Ministry to the actualisation of the government’s reform initiatives, such as “its readiness to go digital; commencement of staff performance assessment; consistent observation of the Reward and Recognition System for outstanding performance; commitment to staff capacity development and the institutionalisation of Innovation Competition/Challenge to tap the capabilities of staff, as well as many others,”.

While declaring the retreat, the minister urged participants to fully comply with their assigned duties by FCSSIP25 and pay attention to the lectures.

Earlier in her Welcome Address, the Director of reform Coordination and Service Improvement, Mrs Charlotte Ibekwe, stated that the Ministry’s decision to bring together Heads of Departments and Units was to get them acquainted with their individual and collective responsibilities toward the full realisation of the laudable objectives of FCSSIP25.

She revealed activities to deepen their understanding of FCSSIP25: the Ministerial Innovation Challenge, the Development Partners’ Conference on Innovation, the Customer Satisfaction Survey on Projects, and the Annual Reward and Recognition ceremony.

In her Goodwill Message, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, represented by the Permanent Secretary Service Policies and Strategies Office, HCSF, Dr Deborah Odoh, acknowledged the numerous achievements of the Federal Ministry of Works in the implementation of FCSSIP25 such as Performance Management System (PMS), Innovation, Rewards and Recognition System and Digitalisation, encouraged the Management to continue being at the top.

She seized the opportunity to introduce the new Service Change Song, which is meant to unite the workforce and redirect it to a culture of Accountability, Meritocracy, Professionalism, Loyalty and Efficiency.

The Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dr Dasuki Arabi, who represented the Ministry, also reiterated the need for the Ministry to implement the reforms for effective service delivery and good governance.
