National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has called on corps members across the country to build on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development training amid the prevailing economic crunch.

The Bauchi State coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Rifkatu Yakubu, made the call during an interactive session with the 2023 Batch ‘C’ stream I corps members in her office.

She said this would not only help them overcome the current economic hardship but also make them employers of labour and contributors to the country’s economic growth.

“I want to advise you to effectively build on all you have learned in camp and off-camp during the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme.

“Go and practice all the training you have undergone because white-collar jobs are no longer available and we all know the situation of the country right now.

“I want to also urge those who didn’t participate in the SAED programme during the service year that it is not too late. You can still do it,” she said.

Yakubu congratulated the corps members on a successful service year and warned them not to embark on night journeys.

She advised that it would be ideal and expected of those travelling far to break the journey into two to avoid travelling in the night.

The state coordinator further admonished them to desist from any form of social vices as its consequences would be inimical to not only themselves but their families, alma mater as well as the NYSC.
