In a significant demonstration of community impact, the Millard Fuller Foundation, in collaboration with key stakeholders, has delivered new homes to low-income families in Nasarawa State.

The initiative took place during the Foundation’s first annual National Day Build in the Luvu-Madaki community, Masaka, Nasarawa State.

The event attracted local partners and international supporters, highlighting the Foundation’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit.

This year’s build enabled beneficiaries to move into affordable housing units, made possible through collaboration with the Fuller Center for Housing and generous contributions from U.S.-based benefactors, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Thompson.

Attendees, including volunteers, not only witnessed the transformation but also helped beneficiaries put the finishing touches on their new homes.

Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of the Millard Fuller Foundation, Sam Odia emphasized the life-changing impact the organization has had on low-income earners across Nigeria.

“Since its inception in 2006, the Foundation has delivered over 1,000 homes, providing security and dignity to families who might never have had the chance to own property. Every Nigerian deserves a safe place to call home, especially those working tirelessly to make ends meet. While the need is immense, we remain committed to providing as many homes as possible for those who need them most,” Odia stated.

For many beneficiaries, the event marked the realization of a long-held dream.

Mrs. Evelyn Itodo, one of the new homeowners, expressed her gratitude, saying, “This is a day I never thought possible. Becoming a homeowner is a dream come true, and I cannot thank the Foundation enough for this life-changing opportunity.”

Pastor Napoleon Ocheja, a civil servant and father of two, echoed her sentiments: “This home has changed everything for my family. No more landlord issues, no more fear of sudden eviction. We finally have a place to call our own.”

Mr. Isa Dogo-Moni, a state government worker and another beneficiary, highlighted the challenges of homeownership for low-income earners.

“With my small salary, building a house felt impossible. But thanks to the Millard Fuller Foundation, my family and I have a safe and secure home,” he said.

As Nigeria grapples with a growing housing crisis, the Millard Fuller Foundation’s efforts serve as a beacon of hope for the country’s most vulnerable. With its focus on sustainable, affordable housing solutions, the Foundation remains at the forefront of providing much-needed relief to families struggling with inadequate housing.
