Court Upholds Engr Auwal As Jigawa Farmers Chairman

Engr Auwal As Jigawa Farmers Chairman

A state high court sitting in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State, has granted leave to withdraw the suit filed against the chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAAN) Jigawa State chapter, Engr Auwal Garba Ibrahim, and 10 others.

The suit No: JDU/001/2023 was filed before the court by Alhaji Idiris Ya’u Maiunguwa (Jaga) and 7 others challenging the eligibility of the election of Engr Auwal Garba and 10 other executive members of the association.

However the complaint, Alhaji Idris prayed the court to declare him as the substantive chairman of the association along with his other executive members.

In the suit, Maiunguwa claimed that their tenure had not elapsed when the new executive was elected and also confirmed that his tenure would end in August 2024 as of the time of filing the suit.

As the case continued, the complainant filed another suit requesting to withdraw the case.
Delivering his judgement on the matter the presiding judge of the court Justice M.B Adamu said, upon reading the motion filed on the request to withdraw the case and also listening to the counsels of both complainants and defendants, the court has granted the leave for withdrawal.

“The court has struck out the case and no order made to cost any of the involved party,” he said.

According to the counsel to the dependants, Barrister Baffa Alhassan, with the striking out of the case, the court has validated the election of Eng Auwal Garba and other executives as legitimate executive leaders of the AFAAN Jigawa State chapter.
