GreenLight Initiative (GLI), has expanded its operations to Ghana, marking a significant step towards promoting road safety, environmental sustainability and community development across Africa and beyond.

In a statement by the communication officer, GreenLight Initiative, Patience Agabi, the organisation said “this new branch represents our commitment to extending our lifesaving work globally, with Ghana serving as a strategic hub for further growth.”

The statement further stated that “Since its inception in Nigeria, GLI has been dedicated to preventing violent deaths and injuries by improving transportation safety and promoting sustainable development. Our evidence-based interventions and advocacy campaigns have made a measurable impact, and
we are eager to bring these successes to new regions. With Ghana as the next step, GLI is poised to broaden its influence across Africa and the world at large.”

On the reason for expansion to Ghana, Agabi said, “In Ghana, GLI will initially focus on enhancing road safety in high-risk areas, conducting community workshops on transportation safety, and advocating for stronger environmental sustainability practices. We will work closely with the Ghanaian government,
local authorities, and community leaders to implement these vital initiatives.”

The statement also stated that the organisation is collaborating with partners like the Ministry of Health,
Ministry of Transportation, Ghana Education Services, Ghana National Road Safety Authority,
Ghana Health Services, Ghana Police Services, Driver and Vehicle Licencing Authority.

Meanwhile, the founder and Board member, GLI, Simon Patrick Obi said, “The expansion into Ghana is a monumental milestone for GreenLight Initiative. Our vision has always been to save lives by promoting safe and sustainable mobility beyond borders. We are setting our sights on Africa and the global stage. We invite local communities, governments, and international partners to join hands with us as we work to make a lasting impact in Ghana and across Africa.
