The Kano State Hisbah Board on Thursday arrested a Jigawa State Commissioner (name withheld), in an uncompleted building in Kano where he was reportedly found with a married woman, raising suspicions of inappropriate conduct.

A Hisbah official, speaking anonymously to journalists confirmed the late-night arrest, stating, “We arrested the Jigawa Commissioner with a married woman in an uncompleted building that belongs to him following reports of suspected affair by her husband.”

The arrest came after the woman’s husband, Nasiru Bulama, lodged a formal complaint with the Kano State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board, accusing the commissioner of engaging in an illicit affair with his wife.

“Nasiru Bulama’s complaint outlined allegations of illicit sexual activities between the commissioner and his wife. The wife tried to flee the scene when we arrived, hitting the gateman in her haste but we managed to apprehend them both,” the Hisbah official added.

No official statement has been made by the Hisbah Board regarding the incident.

Attempts to get comments from the board proved abortive as at the time of filing this report as all calls placed to the board’s deputy Commander, Mujahedeen Aminuddeen and the public relations officer went unanswered.
