Super Eagles star striker Victor Osimhen has reflected on his decision to join Turkish Super Lig side, Galatasaray, in the summer, saying he didn’t want anyone to decide his future for him. .

The Nigeria international linked up with Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal after negotiations with Chelsea and Al-Ahli had failed.

The 25-year-old stated that he was prepared to stay at Napoli until January before he was contacted by Galatasaray.

“I had plans to stay there and wait for three or four months and leave in January, but I think for me it was also fair to stay there because I wouldn’t let anyone decide for me.

“It was important for me to stay there since I didn’t get the deserved move that I really preferred,” Osimhen told Turkish media at the Galatasaray training centre.

Meanwhile, the reigning African player of the year declared he is not desperate to win the top scorer award in the Turkish Super Lig.

Osimhen has scored twice in three league outings since joining Galatasaray on loan in January.
There were fears the forward would struggle to settle down at the club with Mauro Icardi having already established himself as the Turkish Super Lig champions leading marksman.

The duo has, however, got along well both on and off the pitch.

Osimhen declared that he is more interested in the team’s success, not individual accolades.

“He’s a big legend here. We’ve seen how me and him can work well on the pitch. But for me, I don’t care about being the best scorer in the league,” the 25-year-old told the Turkish media.

“I want to score, assist and help the team when I have the chance, [help] in defence and attack, just like the coach needs me to do, but collective success is what’s paramount.”
