Abia State deputy governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, has said the administration is worried by the vandalism of armoured cables and transformers in Ohafia local government area.
Emetu made the remark when Amaekpu Ohafia Women Development Union, Umuahia branch, paid him a courtesy visit in Umuahia.
He blamed the act for many socio-economic challenges facing the area including lack of electricity, high cost of production, youth unemployment, among others.
The deputy governor solicited the partnership of the branch in particular and the people of the area in general in ending the act, saying the consequences of the act were injurious to all.
He pointed at agriculture as one of the panaceas for unemployment and urged the youths to take advantage of the administration’s numerous policies and programmes in the sector.
“I would like to use this forum to reassure you of my commitment to assisting you in renovating your meeting venue and appeal that you sustain your support for the administration,” he added.
In an earlier remark, the secretary of the branch, Chidinma Oge said they came to express delight and associate the branch with the quality performance of the administration.
“We thank our amiable deputy governor, son and husband as well as his humble wife and one of us, Adaeze Emetu for making out time to host us,” she said.
