A statement issued by the director general Press Affairs and Media to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed said Buni stated this in Damaturu when he received APC Women representatives from Potiskum local government area who paid him a solidarity visit at the government house Damaturu.

The governor said his administration considered empowering women as important in the quest to revive the economic situation of the state advising them to engage in economic ventures for self-reliance.
Buni pledged that the government would introduce special packages to women across the state “government would introduce new measures that would support and promote self-reliance, and improve the economy of women.”

The governor presented each of the visiting women with a deep freezer, saying “the government would extend the gesture to other women groups and individuals across the 17 local government areas.

“You should please avoid selling out materials given to you as they are meant to help yourselves and improve your businesses,” Buni said.

The governor expressed regret over the attitude of some beneficiaries of the state agricultural empowerment programme who disposed of the agricultural implements given to them by the state government.

“Some have been arrested and retrieved, we will introduce more stringent measures, including guarantors for subsequent beneficiaries of future interventions,” he said.

Governor Buni charged the APC women to remain loyal emphasizing the supremacy of the party against individuals or groups, “Your loyalty should be to the party and not individuals because those individuals are also submissive to the supremacy of the party.”

According to the governor, the government would continue to engage women groups to adequately address their challenges for a true sense of belonging.
