The Forum of National Youth Leaders of Political Parties in Nigeria (FNYLPPN) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for announcing a 30-day national youth conference aimed at tackling key challenges affecting young Nigerians.
In a statement signed by the FNYLPPN chairman and national youth leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ambassador Muhammed Auwal Musa, the forum highlighted the significance of the initiative.
It described the conference as a critical platform for dialogue and collective action to address the pressing issues facing Nigeria’s youth.
“The conference comes at a crucial time, as the country faces economic challenges, insecurity, and the limited involvement of youth in governance,” Musa said.
He stressed the importance of inclusivity in ensuring the conference’s success and called for youth representatives from all political parties to actively participate in this transformative process.
While acknowledging the administration’s bold economic reforms, Musa emphasized that the immediate impact on ordinary Nigerians, particularly regarding hunger and hardship, must be addressed.
“The reforms are long overdue and align with global standards. They represent the most significant economic transformation since independence. However, the government must urgently mitigate their short-term effects on citizens,” he said.
The forum also appealed to the federal government to restore the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to full operational capacity, endorsing Dr. Halima Tejuosho for the ministry’s leadership.
It praised her experience and compassion, citing her ability to steer the ministry toward fulfilling its mandate of reducing poverty and providing relief to those in need.
In addition, the FNYLPPN urged the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to work closely with civil society groups to avoid unnecessary confrontations during protests.
The forum encouraged Nigerian youth to participate actively in the upcoming conference, stressing the importance of unity and peaceful dialogue in achieving meaningful change.
It discouraged any protests or violent actions that could derail the progress expected from the conference.
“Constructive engagement and active participation are essential for shaping a better future for Nigeria’s youth,” the statement added.
