NDE To Create 93,731 Jobs By December 2024 – DG

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has announced plans to generate 93,731 new jobs across Nigeria by the end of 2024.

The initiative aligns with the organisation’s mandate to curb unemployment as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Mass Employment” agenda.

NDE director-general, Silas Agara, made this announcement in Ondo State.

According to a statement by NDE Ondo state coordinator, Israel Adekitan, the initiative will offer training in vocational, agricultural and entrepreneurial skills, while also creating temporary job opportunities in the public works sector with over 30 skill sets to be available to participants

The DG stated that the employment will focus on six of the eight priority areas outlined by the current administration.

Sharing further details, he noted that the programme will be implemented across all 774 local government areas, with a minimum of ten individuals to be selected from each ward nationwide.

He said that the training will cover a wide range of skills, including fish and poultry production, feed formulation , crop production and goat rearing.

Other areas of coverage include; digital marketing, solar energy, GSM repair, welding, tailoring, and more.

Additionally, the programme will feature a “Start Your Own Business” (SYOB) scheme, aimed at equipping participants to launch their own businesses.

The statement noted that successful trainees will receive startup capital, equipment, and tools while others will have access to credit facilities to help establish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
