In addition to the bridge construction, the council also approved the award of contract for the supply and installation of 30 KVA hybrid solar systems across six cottage hospitals in the state.

The project, valued at N431,662,541.94, was awarded to Blue Camel Energy and is expected to be completed within two months.

Commissioner of Health, Felix Tangwami, said the solar-powered systems would provide a reliable source of energy for sterilising medical equipment and storing vaccines and other medical consumables. “This is necessary due to the power challenges being faced across the country,” he added.

The benefiting hospitals are located in Shelleng, Guyuk, Demsa, Lamurde, Gombi, and Furore local government areas.

Tangwami also announced an upward review of N500 million for the completion of Mayo Belwa Cottage Hospital and revealed plans to include other hospitals in next year’s budget.

He further said the federal and state ministries of health will launch “Project 10 Million” to screen 10 million Nigerians for high blood pressure and diabetes.

The state executive council also condoled with the families of victims involved in a recent motor accident along the Abuja-Nassarawa road.
