Bago Donates N250m To New Gate Varsity

Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has donated an N250 million endowment fund to New Gate University, Minna.

He donated the commissioning of the Informatics and Innovation Complex named after Gen Abdulsalami Alhaji Abubakar (Rtd); Abdulkadir Kure 400-sitting capacity Multi-Purpose Auditorium, and Dr Mu‘azu Babangida Aliyu Library of the University in Minna.

The Governor explained that out of the N250 million, N100 Million is on behalf of his family and that of late Engineer Abdullahi Abdulkadir Kure, while N150 million is on behalf of the Niger State Government.

He also announced that the State government has received scholarships from partners and will extend 50 to the best Medicine students of New Gate University, adding that the beneficiaries will study in Canada, the Dominican Republic, China, and India.

While congratulating Hassan Nuhu for making education a priority, the governor said the establishment of the University is a legacy, and his administration will continue to provide the needed support to sustain it.

The governor challenged the institution to establish the Department of Agriculture as the mainstay of the state‘s economy and said that the university‘s board of trustees should own the institution, grow it, and develop it beyond its founder.

He restated his administration‘s determination and commitment to making Niger State the Massachusetts of Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of New Gate University Minna, Prof. Sadiq Yusuf, acknowledged the significance of the newly inaugurated projects, stating that the structures will elevate the Institution‘s capacity to provide exceptional education and resources to students.

The Pro-Chancellor of New Gate University Minna, Hassan Nuhu, disclosed that the projects are a testament to the institution‘s commitment to educational development.
