Adamawa Leaders Back Establishment Of Solid Minerals Varsity

Leaders and stakeholders from Adamawa state have thrown their weight behind the proposed

establishment of the Federal University of Solid Mineral Development in Michika, Adamawa state.

They expressed their support at the public hearing on the bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Solid Minerals, Michika sponsored by Hon. Zakaria Dauda Nyampa, member Representing Madagali/Michika Federal Constituency.

Speaking at the event held at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja on Monday, a former governor of Adamawa state, Boni Haruna said there was a “compelling need to accommodate the establishment of University of Solid Minerals Michika,” for the development of the state and the country.

While expressing support to the proposed legislation, the Senator representing Adamawa North, Amos Yohanna said, “once this bill is passed in the House and taken to the Senate, we will give it every support needed.”

„I want to specifically appreciate Honourable Zakaria Dauda Nyampa for sponsoring this bill.”

On his part, a former lawmaker, representing Madagali/ Michika Federal Constituency, Hon. Titsi Ganama Kwagga stressed the urgent need to establish the institution, considering its importance to the socioeconomic development of the state and the country.

According to him, “the establishment of the Federal University of Solid Mineral Development, Michika, cannot be overemphasised. We solicit for the support of the National Assembly to pass this important bill.”

In his comment, sponsor of proposed legislation said the  initiative was more than just a university as it was a pathway to harnessing the rich natural resources in Adamawa, equipping future generations with the skills and knowledge essential for the sustainable management of those resources.

Hon. Nyampa appreciated the overwhelming support of members of his constituency and senator representing Adamawa North senatorial district for supporting the Bill.
