Sheikh Tijaniyya Youth Leader Calls for Patience Amid Economic Struggles

The African Youth Leader of Sheikh Tijaniyya, Sheikh Ahmed Umar, has urged Nigerians—particularly the youth—to remain patient and steadfast as the nation navigates economic challenges.

During an interaction with journalists in Abuja, Sheikh Umar emphasized resilience during this difficult period, calling for unity in faith and action.

“Africa, and particularly Nigeria, faces numerous challenges. Destruction can happen instantly, but rebuilding requires time and dedication,” he said, attributing today’s issues in part to past leadership missteps.

As a former governorship aspirant in Kaduna State, Umar voiced cautious optimism, expressing support for the current government’s commitment to stability and progress.

“I urge Nigerians to turn to prayer and hard work in these trying times. When all options seem exhausted, remember that Allah hears our prayers,” he added.

Sheikh Umar acknowledged the rising cost of living, particularly for civil servants, pointing to fuel price hikes that have driven up the cost of essential goods and services, creating hardship for many Nigerians.

Expressing confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts, he prayed for solutions that would ease Nigerians’ burdens.

On the issue of insecurity, especially in northern Nigeria, he stressed that stability is crucial for growth and prosperity.

“Security is a pressing concern—people no longer feel safe traveling or farming. If we can improve security, it would open the door to addressing a significant part of our challenges,” he said.

Sheikh Umar also underscored the need for justice and impartial leadership to move Nigeria forward, hinting at a potential shift in his political platform, though he has not yet made a final decision.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s deeply-rooted faith, he expressed hope that sincere prayers might hasten relief from current hardships.

“If we turn to Allah with genuine faith, change could come much sooner than we expect,” he remarked.

As an immediate measure, he suggested allowing more food imports to address shortages caused by insecurity and re-evaluating fuel prices or reintroducing subsidies to relieve struggling citizens.

In closing, Sheikh Umar called on Nigerians to unite in patience, prayer, and resilience.

“We’ve been through various administrations, and each has had its challenges. A united, prayerful, and resilient population will bring about change, with Allah’s guidance,” he said, encouraging Nigerians to maintain hope and faith during this trying period.
