6 Die In Niger Auto Crash

A fatal accident claimed six lives along the Lambata – Suleja road at the weekend.

LEADERSHIP gathered that 11 people were involved in the accident involving a DAF truck and a Peugeot 406 car.

A witness account revealed that the accident occurred at Gwachipe village, about three kilometres from Lambata.

It was learnt that all those involved in the accident were Male, while three died on the spot, and the other three died while they were being rushed to the General Hospital in Suleja.

It was learnt that the bodies of the victims were evacuated and deposited at the same hospital for the families of the victims to claim them.

A source said a Lecturer with the Federal University of Technology Minna was among those who lost their lives in the auto crash.

The Sector Commander, Niger state command Mr Kumar Tsukwam confirmed the incident to LEADERSHIP yesterday while attributing the cause to overspeeding.

He said within 7 minutes, the accident occurred; his men rushed to the scene and immediately embarked on rescue operations, but “unfortunately, six people lost their lives“.
